Renfrewshire Council has refused Kelburne Hockey Club’s application for a community asset transfer (CAT) of Ralston Community Sports Centre to the club. The decision was made at the meeting of Renfrewshire Council’s CAT Panel on 30 August 2022. The reasons given for refusing the application were:

  1. Uncertainty of funding available to carry out works detailed in the CAT Request; and
  2. Impact of the significant degree of community opposition to the CAT Request on community cohesion.

More details can be found in Renfrewshire Council’s decision notice.

A huge thank you to the community for coming together to oppose the application, for attending meetings, and for the massive amount of letters and email representations. Your collective voices have been heard! We look forward to supporting and working with OneRen to make Ralston Community Sports Centre great again.

Tylney Road will be closed between Dunchurch Road and Glasgow Road for one week from Monday 29 August to allow carriageway resurfacing.

The date for the August meeting of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment (ILE) Policy Board has been changed from Wednesday August 24 to Wednesday August 31.

Kelburne Hockey Club’s application for a community asset transfer (CAT) of Ralston Sports Centre to the club will be considered by the ILE Policy Board at either this meeting or its meeting on Wednesday 2 November. The meetings will be held in the council chambers in Cotton Street at 1 pm.  The agendas for the meetings are published a week in advance, and we will not know until the agenda for the August meeting is published which meeting will consider the application. We will publish a post on the website as soon as we know which meeting will be considering the application.

Details of the ILE Policy Board meetings can be found on the Renfrewshire Council website.

As there are only 60 places in the public seating area of the chambers, you are advised to arrive well in advance of the starting time if you wish to attend the meeting. The meeting will be live streamed and you can watch it from the following link:
